Alex Domingues

Visual artist, filmmaker, and cultural producer with a degree in Visual Arts from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS).
 

In 2026, Domingues opened the solo exhibition Noite de Temporal, curated by Laura Cattani and Munir Klamt, at the Cinemateca Capitólio gallery—the result of an exhibition cinema project created by the Instituto Torus. In the same year, the artist was selected for the Projeto Potência by the Ecarta Gallery. The year 2025 marked the debut of Domingues's first solo exhibition, Villa-Domingues, curated by Bruna Fetter.
 

Domingues has participated in group exhibitions in Brazil, including Utopia Cuir (Espaço UM55, São Paulo, 2026), Panorama 7 (Funarte MG, 2026), Mostra de Videoarte Ciclos (CCCRJ, 2024), and FAC - Festival Audiovisual de Cultura (Santa Bárbara, MG, 2023). In Rio Grande do Sul, this trajectory includes participation in Dedos Cruzados at the Casa de Cultura Mario Quintana, and Nem Tudo é Azul at the Pinacoteca Rubem Berta, among others.
 

As a founding partner of the production company O Estranho, Domingues is responsible for the direction and screenwriting of M.U.S.A., a feature film funded by the Lei Paulo Gustavo - Canoas—the first fiction feature film produced in the municipality, scheduled to premiere in 2026. Domingues also directed eight short films, including Anacronia (2023), which screened at film festivals across several Brazilian states.
 

The artist also works as the executive producer for several projects, ranging from short films to other artistic mediums such as visual arts, music, and fashion, totaling more than 15 projects selected for funding grants such as FAC-RS, LPG (Lei Paulo Gustavo), and PNAB (Plano Nacional Aldir Blanc).
 

In 2025, Domingues conducted the 80-hour Oficina Cinema Estranho workshop at the Bento Gonçalves school, located in the Mathias Velho neighborhood of Canoas. As the first filmmaking workshop held in that neighborhood, the initiative provided technical and artistic training for 15 students, resulting in the short film A Cápsula do Tempo. The film went on to screen at student film festivals such as Visões Periféricas (RJ), FECEA (Alvorada - RS), and FECIC (Canoas - RS), winning the jury award for Best Film.
